Simply Thanks
Happy Tuesday everyone. Well after a fun relaxing Christmas everything is back to normal. Hubby has gone back to the office and the kids have gone back to school.
One thing I enjoy after Christmas is playing with any new crafty goodies I was given and making Thank You cards for friends and family. I must say my Christmas/Birthday wish list (yes, I'm a Christmas Day baby) didn't contain to many fancy things. I was super happy to get the set of brush pens that I was after and a set of water brushes, but was over the moon with the little portable photo printer. I started to get into making memory albums last year and this will make printing little photos I need sooooo much easier as me and our main printer never can see eye to eye!!!!
Today I would like to share a simple Thank You card I made using stencils, inks and a stamp. Using a stencil I find it can give you an amazing background with minimal work, perfect if you are in a hurry or have a number of the same cards to make.
For this project you will need:
- 15x15cm white card blank
- 14.5x14.5cm black card for the matting
- 14x14cm white stamping card
- stencil of your choice. Tip: a simple design that radiates out will work best
- Low tack tape
- Distress Inks and blending tool/sponge
- Archival Black Ink
- Stamp of your choice
Secure you 14x14cm stamping card to your craft mat with low tack tape, or masking tape, ensuring that the tape will not impede on inking your stencil.
Taking your stencil, centre it over the stamping card securing it down with some more low tack tape. Then using the darker colour of the two distress inks and your blending tool, or sponge, start going over the stencil from the centre radiating out to about half way. Using the lighter colour start going over the stencil from the outside towards the centre. As you meet the darker colour the inks will blend together to give a seamless transition between them.
Next is stamping the sentiment. The stamp I have used here is a clear unmounted stamp. Even though I have acrylic blocks I normally like using my Tim Holtz Stamping platform. It means that I can ensure the stamp goes where I want it and if it doesn't stamp out properly first time I can go back in and stamp it again without the stress of having to line it up again.
Once stamped all that is left is to mount this to the 14.5x14.5cm black card, then mount that to your 15x15cm card blank and that's it. A perfect card to show your gratitude.
You can create cards for all occasion using this design. All you need to do is change the colour of the inks you use and the sentiment. Here I've created two birthday cards and because of the simple design its perfect for him or her.
I hope you have enjoyed this post and you feel inspired. Please feel free to leave a comment and if you have any questions please ask. Until next time.
Crafty hugs
